The second of three Spring League matches tool place today at Weston Pools, Oswestry, Shropshire.
The weather was kind for once with a pleasant 18 degrees and a light breeze.
We had 24 of a possible 25 fish today what a great turnout!
A new member also joined the ranks in the shape of Mike Grant. What a day he had, he managed a creditable 12th place on his first match and to add to the excitement he became a temporary lifeguard! One of our other members next to Mike was Jim Bate who slipped and ended up in the drink. Luckily Mike was on hand to fish him out.
Top marks to Jim who stripped off and carried on fishing, tough nuts us POHAS members! Of course the usual banter did the round which Jim laughed off.
We split the match across two pools, Belvedere and Stretton, so the peg numbers below are prefixed 'B' or 'S' to identify which pool/peg each angler was on.
We must say it was a cracking venue, well laid out, well maintained with a good tackle shop and a nice breakfast to start the day!
The Golden Peg today was drawn by Bill O'Keefe and as is usual 'The Curse of the Golden Peg' continues.
Well done to everyone today, hope to see you all on the next match at Beacon View on 17th May, when we will find out who is our 2008 Spring League winner.
Oh we hope Joe 'the pole' Fagan enjoyed the Trout he caught on the match today. Yes, he had two Trout in his catch, as they are not supposed to be in the pools the Fishery Owner allowed him to take them for his tea.....Yes, what an eventful day it was! |
